Dr. Lucas's Article

Colleagues:

Just read Dr. Lucas' article extolling the virtues of Vanguard's Dividend Funds. When discussing the ETF VYM, he indicated the active alternative of that fund was VEIPX, but isin't  VHDYX a closer relative VYM, or is VHDYX only the mutual fund  equivalent alternative to VYM rather than an actively managed alternative?

Thanks,

Signed,

Re: Dr. Lucas's Article

It is indeed the mutual fund corresponding to VYM.  Vanguard's ETFs are all just classes of their mutual funds.

Re: Dr. Lucas's Article

Dr. Lucas mentioned VEIPX as an ACTIVE alternative. As SJ60 stated, VHDYX is mutual fund version of VYM, both are passive index based products.
