Seems we have 3 kinds of investors here on M*

We have the Tiny Tim type Permabull Dancers  singing 'Up, Up, And Away' while  skipping through the tulips.

Then we have the Middle of the Road Choir singing 'One Day At a Time'.

Lastly we have The Gloomers singing 'The End Of The World'.

You missed a fourth: those who choose to do nothing and carry on with their normal lives--as much as covid-19 allows.

Valid observation.  Regardless, it will take at least 5 years for this market to recover effective today!

outandabout - put me in with the Tiny Tim’s. They may have more experience and know something the other groups don’t, sound more fun and maybe their gate swings both ways. “ **bleep** the torpedos full speed ahead” is the tulip chant.

Hehe! There is a shifting intersection between all three, but you have described the 'market'. Therein lies its efficiency, or not.

OK, the "Tiny Tim" reference may be a bit "dated". LOL
