Franklin-Templeton recently shut 6 bond funds in India. It will liquidate them and return proceeds in the next few months. F-T cites illiquidity in Indian bond market.

For Indian stock market, watch ^BSESN/$BSESN and ^NSEI/$NSEI.

Re: MINDX

I don't invest in India, but I knew Franklin had a major investment interest. There are threads on Mathews Asia funds

F-T is now saying that instead of few months, it may take 5+ years to return the money in its 6 frozen bond funds.  https://www.ndtv.com/business/franklin-india-may-take-over-5-years-to-return-some-funds-10-things-to...

Re: MINDX

Hi @jake

We used to hold a fair amount of MINDX but like you said it has been underperforming for a while. Got out of most of it with a partial loss. The other fund i know of is the Wasatch india fund (WAINX). That was doing better last few years (think its still a M* 5star) but now has dropped badly this year. Part of the issue with MINDX and probably the others is their financial holdings. For example HDFC bank, the stock which accounts for the highest percent in MINDX, and once a high flier, has come down terribly recently. Most banks are taking a beating in India.

Not sure what the best choices are for Indian stocks. I suspect there needs to be more fiscal/monetary actions before stocks start reacting favorably. Am open to suggestions too.

Overall i have been very disappointed with international investing as a whole these past 5 years.

Best
