Bond prices soaring

I wanted to buy BIV today, but the price is running away from me. Why are bond prices soaring today when everyone is buying stock?

I bought BIV for $90.70 on May 7. Now it’s $91.75 and climbing.

Re: Bond prices soaring

The bond market is saying "be careful", the stock market is saying "no worries".

Re: Bond prices soaring

The market is just chasing momentum until fundamentals matter.

Re: Bond prices soaring

The UK sold bonds today at a slightly negative rate for the first time. Perhaps BIV buyers think the US is next.

Re: Bond prices soaring

I share your puzzlement.  In fact, I cannot make sense of either the bond market or the stock market at this time.

I'm very slowly (with 1% of my cash each week) purchasing VFIAX (500 index) and VGLSX (LT treasuries) on down days, trying to DCA my way in.  Maybe Mr Market is not crazy and any crash is years away, not weeks or months.
