In these stressful and uncertain times, we want to help support your conversations around risk with your clients.
Last summer, we introduced our scenario analysis tool in Morningstar Office Cloud to show how one or more funds would perform if conditions from a past market or macroeconomic event were to reoccur. We have now expanded this risk modeling capability to also analyze client accounts, model portfolios, and custom benchmarks.
With pre-defined scenarios—such as the 2007-2009 subprime crisis and subsequent financial crisis or the 2018 market volatility—our tool allows you to perform "what-if" analysis on market movements and visualize the results to clearly communicate the value of your recommendations to your clients.
Watch our 15-minute on-demand webinar to learn more about our methodology and see a short demonstration of the tool.

Absolutely! There's a short instructional video in this post that illustrates how to do this via Morningstar Office Cloud.

The scenario analysis analytics are for financial professionals at this time and can be found in Morningstar Office and Direct. However, the Morningstar Risk Model, which is the backbone of these analytics does have a retail friendly tool call Factor Profile on Morningstar.com. Subscribers can access this on the Portfolio page of a fund or ETF. Here's an example for VTI, https://www.morningstar.com/etfs/arcx/vti/portfolio
