Happy Heavenly 90th Birthday, Jack Bogle

Jack Bogle would have been 90 years old today. He could have made billions but chose to make a difference instead.

RIP, Jack. We'll continue to carry on your mission.

Agree.

I have something that to me is priceless...a framed note on my wall which reads: "Congratulations ___R48____ on retiring at age 48 using Vanguard's philosophies and techniques."  Signed: John Bogle.

His "stay the course" messages got me past the goal line.

Jack handwrote his notes and responses rather than have his secretary send a typewritten printed letter or an email. Those handwritten notes mean a lot to those who received them. That's how our first get-together with Jack came about; Jack asked about getting together with us. The result was the first of 18 annual Bogleheads Conferences.

Interesting, Mel.

I did once meet his aide, a gentleman who seemed to take notes of things also.

Yes, I bet they took copious note in case Jack asked them later who that was that he was talking to and what was said.

I had the privilege of meeting him once when he signed a book for me.  I will always remember that.  He was quite a driving force for us small investors.
