Below are the Terms of Service (Terms of Service) for this Morningstar Community Site (Site).
Subject to these Terms of Service and any other Morningstar terms appearing on the Site, Morningstar, Inc., on behalf of itself and its affiliated companies (Morningstar) grants you a limited, revocable license to access and use the Site for the purpose set forth below. By accessing or using the Site, you agree that you are bound by these Terms of Service.
Morningstar is making the Site available for the purpose of peer-to-peer and direct support, education and product ideation. Although the Site is designed for use by our customers, our business partners and their employees, we welcome anyone to participate in public areas. In all cases, however, we expect everyone to observe the Community rules of conduct set forth in these Terms of Service.
The Site is currently configured to include the following areas: (1) Discussions (Forums); (2) Knowledge Base; (3) Academy; (4) Ideas; (5) Insights (Blogs); and (6) Case Portal (Support Case Submission and Review). Most areas of the Site will be publicly available and not require the user to be authenticated in order to access them. However, users who are not authenticated will only have read-only access to those public areas of the Site and will not have any ability to post information or submit comments.
Users with active subscriptions and trials to certain Morningstar products (e.g., Morningstar OfficeSM) will have the opportunity to be authenticated on the Site, using their Morningstar product email and password. Once authenticated, a user will be able to post, comment, submit support cases and access all areas of the Site. Single Sign On (SSO) will be used to authenticate the majority of Site users. In cases where SSO does not authenticate a user, the user will simply log into the Site using his/her Morningstar product credentials.
Authenticated users will select a username to be displayed for interactions on the Site. Other than this username, no other identifier (e.g., first name/last name, email, etc.) will be displayed to other users.
Site Access Use Cases
There are three primary ways by which a user may access the Site:
Site Content and Its Use
Please note the following:
To keep the Site a civil and respectful forum for debate and discussion, all users are prohibited from posting content:
Deletions and Terminations
We reserve the right to delete content (including any and all posts) without warning at our sole discretion. If we become aware of any posts violating any of the standards listed above or otherwise feel that any content or use is inappropriate, we may remove the content in question and/or immediately restrict or terminate the user's Posting Account. Morningstar is the sole arbiter of any violations and the remedy used to address them. Site users are responsible for all posts made through their Posting Accounts.
Modifications to Terms of Service
Morningstar reserves the right to modify these Terms of Service at any time, effective upon posting of the modified Terms of Service on the Site.
Disclaimers and Limits of Liability
Morningstar expressly disclaims any responsibility for: (i) any Site content, including, without limitation, whether it is accurate, complete or timely or complies with law; and (ii) any use that any one may make of the Site or its content, including, without limitation, any trading, investment or other decisions made on the basis of this information. You accept sole liability for your use of the Site and any information appearing on it. The views and opinions expressed on the Site are solely those of the posting user and Morningstar has no responsibility for them. Under no circumstances shall Morningstar be liable to you or any other person for any damages, including without limitation, direct, indirect, incidental, consequential or punitive damages, arising out of or relating to the Site, any content appearing on it or any use of any of the foregoing. Your sole and exclusive remedy hereunder shall be for you to discontinue your use of the Site.
These Terms of Service are governed by the laws of the state of Illinois, without regard to their conflict of laws provisions.
